Visual Identity & Monogram Design: Independent Author Branding
I developed a bespoke visual identity for an independent Brazilian author specialising in science fiction, fantasy, and suspense. The project focused on creating a brand identity that visually bridges the structured, technical nature of sci-fi with the evocative, atmospheric quality of fantasy. Central to this identity is a custom-designed monogram, serving as a versatile and recognisable hallmark for the author's personal brand across his upcoming literary releases.
Problem
As an emerging author, the client lacked a cohesive visual framework to represent his literary work. He needed to establish a professional identity that could effectively communicate the duality of his writing style—blending the rigidity and precision of science fiction with the imaginative, organic elements of fantasy and suspense. Without an established visual strategy, he lacked the means to build market recognition or convey the specific tone of his stories to potential readers.
Solution
I curated a sophisticated colour palette featuring deep moss green and earthy browns, which provides an organic yet grounded feel that complements the themes of fantasy and suspense. I designed a primary monogram that balances architectural precision with fluid lines, perfectly capturing the aesthetic tension between sci-fi rigour and imaginative world-building. This streamlined visual foundation ensures that the author’s work is immediately identifiable, providing a professional and memorable brand signature as he launches his career.
